FABRICS 2024

About Our Clothing

Our pieces are thoughtfully designed with a focus on comfort, individuality, and flexibility, but you may notice slight differences from year to year. Fit, measurements, and even details like the tension around a neckline can vary. Why? Because clothing, unlike rigid materials, is naturally flexible and influenced by many factors.

We primarily work with knit fabrics, which are known for their elasticity and responsiveness. These materials can be affected by cutting techniques, yarn tension, sewing methods, and fabric composition. Even environmental factors like humidity on the day a fabric is dyed can subtly influence how it looks and feels.

In addition, we’re constantly refining our designs. Whether it’s tweaking patterns or incorporating customer feedback, we strive to create pieces that feel just right. However, we know clothing is deeply personal—not every piece will work for everyone, and that’s okay.

If you’re someone who values absolute consistency or has exacting preferences about fit, our clothing might not be the perfect match for you. But for those who appreciate unstructured, soft fabrics designed to be forgiving and versatile, we hope our pieces become staples in your wardrobe.

We update our size charts to reflect any significant changes and do our best to communicate these adjustments clearly. At the heart of it all, our mission is to craft clothing that embraces the natural beauty of its materials while offering comfort and adaptability for everyday wear.

We always strive to keep our customers informed about our fabrics. Here’s a quick comparison between the fleece released in January 2024 and the latest December 2024 release.

This year's fleece is incredibly soft and cozy, but it’s slightly different from the January 2024 version, which was made from 95% organic cotton and 5% spandex. The new fleece features a blend of organic cotton and Tencel Lyocell, offering a buttery-soft feel we know you’ll love!

A few important notes about the new fleece:

  • Shrinkage: This fabric is not preshrunk, so expect approximately 3% shrinkage, with additional shrinkage if it’s put in the dryer.
  • Care Tips: Wash on cold inside out and we always recommend air-drying fleece. The spandex in the ribbing is more prone to breakage when exposed to high heat in the dryer, which can appear as small white strands. These can be pulled out without damaging the fabric, but this issue has only been observed with high-heat drying

Why we moved from bamboo to Tencel Lyocell and Tencel Modal

Tencel is derived from sustainably sourced wood pulp (often eucalyptus or beechwood trees) and boasts a closed-loop production process. It is manufactured using a highly efficient solvent spinning method, which minimizes waste and water usage. It also operates in a closed loop system. This means that 99% of the solvents and water that are used in the process are recycled back into the system. It’s highly regulated and patented and the reason it’s more environmentally friendly than a fabric like bamboo rayon, the production of which is unfortunately not regulated or certified and frequently uses many harsh chemicals in it’s manufacturing process, causing potential issues for the workers creating the fabric, as well as the environment.

Why we use Organic Cotton
Organic cotton is cultivated without the use of synthetic pesticides or harmful chemicals, ensuring the fabric is free from toxic residues. Unlike conventional cotton, which relies heavily on chemicals, organic cotton promotes a healthier ecosystem and a safer environment for farmers and consumers alike. Organic cotton also uses less water than conventional cotton, and the absence of chemicals enhances the fabric's strength, resulting in longer-lasting garments that retain their integrity over time.
